Bruce Thomsen will lead us on our September 18th Field Trip to the Martinez Shoreline to visit 3 local parks: Carquinez Strait Regional Shoreline, Radke Martinez Regional Shoreline, and the Waterbird Regional Preserve. The trip will begin at 8:00 a.m. at the Nejedly Staging Area, Carquinez Strait Regional Shoreline. (NSAS Event)

Description: We will visit 3 areas during the day: Carquinez Strait Regional Shoreline is an oakwood with a moderate hike of about 1 1/2 miles. Radke Martinez Regional Shoreline is about a mile walk through marsh to the Carquinez Strait shoreline. This walk is level on a paved or gravel path. The last stop of the day is Waterbird Regional Preserve, an overlook of the marsh pond near I-680 and a short walk to an upper viewing area.
Details for the trip will be sent out to members and friends who have signed up for our Field Trip eBlast. Sign-ups are required as the trip will be limited to 15 participants and will require a signed Covid Waiver. We request that all participants be vaccinated and that masks are worn when in close proximity to others.
Due to size limitations birding activities will be reserved for Members and only open for non-members if Space Permits. We encourage all non-members to become a Member by clicking on our website’s JOIN Button. Annual Membership costs $25 for Individuals and $35 for Families.
Directions: From I-680 and Marina Vista Ave., Martinez, drive west on Marina Vista Ave. through Martinez to Talbart St. Turn right onto Talbart St. for about .10 of a mile then angle left onto Carquinez Strait Dr. Go about 1/3 mile past the cemeteries to the Nejedly Staging Area on your left. Park in the upper lot if there is room.
