FieldTrip: Junior Audubon Oxbow Preserve River Habitats Bird Walk

Field Trip: Junior Audubon Oxbow Preserve River Habitats Bird Walk

Date: Wednesday January 30, 2019

Time: 2:00 PM

NSAS continues its kid-friendly birding group, Junior Audubon, for bi-monthly walks in City of Napa parks! All walks are from 2 to 4 pm. Parents and younger siblings are encouraged to attend. The goal of the Junior Audubon program is to attract school-aged birders, but all ages are welcome. Our walks are family-friendly. We walk at a moderate pace, stopping frequently to enjoy watching and listening to the birds. (NSAS Event)

Details:

Leader: Crystal DeMarco

Description: This is a wonderful opportunity for young ones to learn about local ecosystems and the birds that inhabit them. Registration is free, and available through the City of Napa Parks and Recreation at https://apm.activecommunities.com/naparec/Home.

The first walk of the year is at Oxbow Preserve. The almost 13 acres of riverside habitat is a hidden urban gem of a park and provides easy access to the mighty Napa River. The park is accessible from McKenzie Drive, off of the Silverado Trail just down from the First Street Bridge.

Directions: From the intersection of First Street and Silverado Trail, drive north on the Silverado Trail for .2 miles. Make a left at McKenzie Drive. Drive west for 400 ft. and park at the Oxbow Preserve. This is a narrow residential public access road, so please drive slowly.
