Field Trip: Walk at Lake Hennessey

Date: Sunday March 25, 2018

Time: 8:00 AM

Andrew Ford leads weekly Saturday walks in and around Napa and Solano Counties. This week we will take a stroll around the Lake Hennessey from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon. (NSAS Event)

Details:

Leader: Andrew Ford

Description: Hennessey is a reservoir formed by the Conn Creek Damn and is a great location for waterbirds and migrants. Song Sparrow, Bald Eagle, Clark and Western Grebe, Osprey and Tree Swallow are likely to be seen. Waterfowl still occupy the lake in large rafts. Lewis's Woodpecker have been seen in the area. Migration is slowly beginning and we may see some of our summer breeders returning,

Rain is predicted in the forecast in small percentages. Steady rain will cancel. Expect cold, wet and muddy conditions. Bring warm clothing. Water and binoculars are a must. Mosquitoes have been seen lately flying around, so bug spray may be needed. Please wear comfortable, yet sturdy hiking boots or shoes. Please dress accordingly to the weather and location.

Directions: Lake Hennessey, Conn Creek side of the lake, 1798 Conn Valley Rd, St. Helena, CA.
