Description: Did you know that hummingbirds are only found in the Western Hemisphere? Or that they will visit between 1000-2000 flowers per day on average? Hummingbirds are some of our most beloved and watchable birds, but some are being threatened by climate change. Join us at American Canyon wetlands and learn about the simple things that we can all do to ensure their continued survival. We will also learn how to identify the three hummingbird species found in our area and how hummingbird ranges are changing. This talk will be followed by a bird walk.

The workshop begins at 9am., followed by a bird walk at Rush Ranch Open Space and Grizzly Island Wildlife Area at 9:30 a.m. until noon. Walks are appropriate for all ages (children must be accompanied by an adult). This walk requires some hiking up hills. Please bring binoculars if you have them and water.

Directions: Meet at the Rush Ranch parking lot at 9:00 a.m. From Hwy 80, drive east on Hwy 12 for approximately three miles to Grizzly Island Road. Turn right on Grizzly Island Road and go two miles to the ranch entrance at 3521 Grizzly Island Road.

Coordinator: Contact Crystal DeMarco at crystalrose51996@gmail.com for more information.
