Walks and workshops aimed at Beginning Birders are held twice a month on Saturdays. All workshops begin at 9 a.m., followed by bird walks at 9:30 a.m. until noon at American Canyon Wetlands. (NSAS Event)
Leader: Crystal DeMarco
Description: Did you know that hummingbirds are only found in the Western Hemisphere? Or that they will visit between 1000-2000 flowers per day on average? Hummingbirds are some of our most beloved and watchable birds, but some are being threatened by climate change. Join us at American Canyon wetlands and learn about the simple things that we can all do to ensure their continued survival. You will also learn how to identify the three hummingbird species found in our area and how hummingbird ranges are changing. This talk will be followed by a bird walk in American Canyon Wetlands.
The workshop will start at 9:00 a.m. followed by a walk at 9:30 a.m. until noon. Walks are appropriate for all ages (children must be accompanied by an adult). Please bring binoculars if you have them and water.
Directions: Meet at 9:00 a.m. at the American Canyon Wetlands parking lot on the corner of Wetlands Edge Road and Eucalyptus Drive.
