Field Trip: Pine Flat & Ida Clayton Roads in Sonoma

Join us for spring birding along Pine Flat Rd. and Ida Clayton Rd. in Sonoma County. (NSAS Event)

Description: On this field trip to Sonoma, we will be on the lookout for mountain quail, band-tail pigeons, pileated woodpeckers, olive-sided flycatchers, Pacific-slope flycatchers, western kingbird, purple martin, blue grey gnatcatcher, California thrasher, and Bell’s sparrow. Bring: Lunch, water, comfortable walking shoes, and binoculars. The Jimtown Store is in the area, but we may not be close enough for lunch.

Directions: From Napa, go north on Highway 29 to Calistoga. Continue on Highway 128 toward Geyserville. Drive north on Highway 128 approximately 16 miles to Pine Flat Rd. There is a small parking area at Pine Flat Rd. where we will meet Gordon Beebe at 8:00 a.m. and will carpool from there up the road.
