November and December see all upcoming eventsNSAS Presents: Birds of the Sierra Nevada with Author and Artist Keith Hansen on ZoomThursday November 11, 2021 - 7:00 PM After illustrating Discovering Sierra Birds with Ted Beedy and Steve Granholm in 1982, and then illustrating Birds of the Sierra Nevada: Their Natural History, Status and Distribution with Ted Beedy and Ed Pandolfino in 2013, Keith knew he had to author a more comprehensive and complete field guide for the identification of Sierra birds. In this presentation, Keith will share his experiences, adventures, and amazing artwork while writing his newest book with Edward Beedy and Adam Donkin that details more than 325 Sierra birds fully illustrated in: Hansen’s Field Guide to Birds of the Sierra Nevada published this year by HeyDay Books. Sacramento Valley National & State Wildlife Refuges - Field TripSaturday December 4, 2021 - 8:30 AM Our next field trip will be to several of our incredible National and State Wildlife Refuges that dot the Sacramento Valley. We will search for Ducks, Geese, Swans, Shorebirds, Hawks & Owls and other Passerines. details... Christmas Bird Count 4 KidsSaturday December 11, 2021 - 9:00 AM Napa-Solano Audubon & Connolly Ranch Present Christmas Bird Count 4 Kids 2021! Children, bring your parents and a brown bag lunch, and come join us to look for birds in Napa's local Parks on Saturday, December 11th. The fun begins at 9:00 a.m. at Connolly Ranch. Participants will sign in, review birding strategies, have a binocular training, and break into small teams. Teams will then travel with their parents by car to nearby parks throughout Napa. Participants will hike with their team leaders, bird guide, checklist, and binoculars for 90 minutes of fun birding along a specific trail to record species and count birds. Children will experience the thrill of adding new birds to their list and keeping an accurate count of the birds they see. We will reconvene at Connolly Ranch at 11:30 to share bird observations, tabulate birds, enjoy lunch, and meet a special surprise guest! Angwin Christmas Bird CountSaturday January 1, 2022 - 7:00 AM The Christmas Bird Count has taken place for the last 50 years, and covers a 15 mile diameter circle centered on Angwin covering most of St. Helena, Lake Hennessey, Bell Canyon, Wild Lake Ranch, Los Posadas State Forest, Pope Canyon and the shore of Lake Berryessa. details... |
