This exciting week-long festival includes a wide array of birding activities featuring field trips and workshops. Listen to fascinating lectures by acclaimed authors and naturalists, go on birding trips and view species in their natural habitats, enjoy kayaking trips and boat excursions. Held at the peak of spring migration, shorebirds abound and special opportunities are planned to see many other species, including Marbled Murrelet, Spotted Owl, and Snowy Plover. - Not an NSAS Event


The 23rd Annual Godwit Days Festival in Arcata, California, from April 18-24, features nearly 100 events to choose from, including a great variety of interesting field trips, lectures, workshops, boat and kayak excursions, vendor and exhibit booths, optics, art show, family nature activities, and banquet.

Keynote speakers include:

  • Jack P. Dumbacher, Curator of Birds and Mammals at the California Academy of Sciences
  • Sharon Stiteler, Author and founder of Birdchick.com
