Time: 8:30 AM

The Napa County Library, Connolly Ranch, and Napa-Solano Audubon Society invite children ages 7 to 18, and their families, to the 4th Annual Christmas Bird Count for Kids (CBC4K). This program will be held at the Napa County Library on Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (NSAS Event)

Details:

Christmas Bird Count for Kids is designed to introduce families to the significance, traditions, and fun of birding through participation in a national bird count. Families will meet at the Napa County Library for a Binocular Boot Camp, where they will learn how to properly use and care for their binoculars before venturing out into the field. Each child will also receive a bird booklet to help him or her get familiar with birds, and keep a record and tally of what he or she sees in the field. Local birding experts will lead groups to various habitats, where they will spend approximately 1½ hours identifying and counting birds. Groups will then return to the Napa County Library to to report their findings and enjoy lunch. Christmas Bird Count for Kids is free of charge, but registration is required. Limited to 40 kids, so sign up early.

Families should bring sack lunches and binoculars (if possible), and wear clothing and shoes suitable for hiking. Children attending the program must be accompanied by an adult at all times. The Napa County Library is located at 580 Coombs St. in Napa.
